Holiday Depression

Are the Holidays bringing you down?

You aren’t alone.

It can be especially difficult to get through this season when there is so much “holiday cheer” around you.  And you just don’t feel it.

You know what?  You don’t have to feel it.  You can focus instead on what gives you joy, which could have nothing to do with the holidays.

Some important tips to get you through this season:

*Focus on your hobbies and interests.  Make them a priority in your free time.

*Ignore holiday commercials.  Know that they don’t speak to you and redirect your attention elsewhere.

*Keep moving.  Be active every day, even if it’s only for 15 minutes.  Exercise is one of the best antidotes for depression.  I can’t emphasize that enough.  It actually changes your brain chemistry for the better.

*Watch funny shows and movies.  Or read a good book.

*Get together with friends and have a good time.

*Immerse yourself in beauty, whether it’s watching a sunset, playing in the snow, or enjoying a good walk.

Let this holiday season be however you want it to be.  Make it yours and enjoy!

Until next time…..
