Coherence Therapy can be a promising solution for those whose unwanted feelings, thoughts, and behaviors seem entrenched and impossible to break.

We first identify the symptom/problem that you are struggling with. We will then explore and discover the emotional learning that keeps the symptom alive. According to Coherence Therapy, a symptom is coherent because it makes sense in the context of your life. Hard as it may be to believe, there actually is a good reason that your symptom exists, even though it is causing you suffering now.

You  likely formed emotional meanings around childhood and adult experiences. The negative ones are driving the suffering you are now experiencing. These were emotional learnings that helped you to understand and cope with what was happening to you at the time. They were the best ways you knew how to respond to the difficulties around you.

Once we bring these emotional meanings fully into your awareness (they are usually unconscious), then we can take the next steps to transform the symptom. This method can produce deep and lasting results.

Here are some of the issues that I’ve worked with using Coherence Therapy:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Anger
  • Trauma
  • Relationship issues
  • Decision making
  • Grief and loss
  • Past sexual, physical and emotional abuse
  • Feelings of abandonment
  • Low self-esteem
  • Procrastination
  • Creativity

I am a Certified Practitioner of Coherence Therapy, and continue to refine this modality by studying with Bruce Ecker, one of the founding theorists. Coherence Therapy is on the cutting edge of the psychotherapy field and will continue to grow and influence the mental health profession.
